Investors Advisory Committee

The Investors Advisory Committee (IAC) is comprised of like minded Impact Investors that individually identify, vet, sponsor and mentor an investee startup through the cohort program of the Catalyst Fund.

Alex Lazarow

Alexandre is a Principal with Omidyar Network, focusing on investments across the Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion initiatives with a focus on Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. He sources, executes, and manages for-profit investments and non-profit grants. Alexandre is also a Kauffman Fellow, earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.

Brian Cayce

Brian is a leading impact venture capitalist seeking technology-led startups in emerging markets bridging the access gap to essential services and goods for the mass market.Brian brings experience in both the for- profit and not-for-profit sectors in developed and developing countries. Brian is a Kauffman Fellow and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Georgia Honors Program, where he earned a BA summa cum laude. Brian also holds an MBA in Finance from Georgia State University and is proficient in Russian.

Monica Brand

VP, InvestmentS - Quona Capital

Monica Brand Engel is an investor and entrepreneur, having launched a number of investment vehicles and products aimed at broadening financial inclusion. Some of the financial inclusion businesses she helped launch include Quona Capital, Accion Frontier Inclusion Fund and its predecessor fund, Frontier Investments Group, Anthuri Catalysts (Cape Town venture capital accelerator), and a Calvert index fund (Bethesda based socially responsible mutual fund). Monica holds an MBA and Masters of Education from Stanford University.

Sheel Mohnot

partner - 500 startups 

Sheel is a Partner at 500 Startups, running the 500 startups FinTech Fund "Financial services for the rest of us" and San Francisco based FinTech accelerator. His own startup experience includes 2 successful FinTech exits – a payments company and a high-stakes auction company. He also created and hosts the startup podcast called The Pitch. He formerly worked as a financial services consultant at BCG and started his FinTech career at the non-profit p2p lender Kiva. Sheel holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BS from Carnegie Mellon.

Vikas Raj

MANAGING diRector - accion venture lab

Vikas Raj is Managing Director at Venture Lab, leading the group’s work on investments, in addition to managing portfolio relationships and driving the strategy and growth of Venture Lab. Prior to joining Accion, Vikas was an M&A investment banker at Evercore Partners, where he advised on multiple corporate transactions with aggregate value of over $45 billion across the technology, real estate, consumer products and industrials sectors. Vikas has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia University.
